KURATAS - Life sized robots

Kuratas are the latest man-controlled robots from japan.  Rumors are that they can be controlled by your iphone.  They are tank-like and can carry 1 person.  Specs say that it can travel up to 10mph (not bad for a 4 ton robot).  The bad news is that they cost around 1.5 million dollars to make and are not available to the general public.

This robots utilize the latest technology in the cockpit.  From a motion controlled AR user interfaces to touch-screen panels.  They are being produced by Suidobashi Heavy Industry.  If you are a fan of Mechwarrior or Gundam then you might want to keep an eye out on this robots.

These robots are a perfect example of how "Transformers" the movie changed the world.  Lets just hope more of these real life replicas of robots come out.  The 13 foot tall Kuratas are more japanese anime like in the control scheme as well as the built.  They closely resemble the unmaned droids from "Ghost in the Shell" anime series as well as many other japanese robots.

Did I also say that you can use your smartphone to control them?
