The kit produced by Sparkfun requires minimum knowledge of electronics. It is aimed at teens but it would also help any adult learn about how electronics work. Learning how to program electronic devices is a great gateway into bigger robotic projects. The best thing is that this kit is Arduino based and some of the components can be reused. It is also a great alternative to the Lego NXT kits.
